Greg Hardy has been granted his wish for a matchup with Tai Tuivasa.
The research powerhouses will match at UFC 264 on July 10, a person with knowledge of the booking told MMA Junkie on Tuesday. The individual requested anonymity because the UFC has to make an official statement.
Hardy (7-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and Tuivasa (11-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) confronted different fates in their latest outings. In December, Hardy dropped to Marcin Tybura by second-round TKO. The stoppage came following a successful first round for Hardy, who fought to escape Tybura's clutches when the fight hit the mat in Round 2. It was Hardy's initial career stoppage reduction and snapped a two-fight winning streak.
In terms of Tuivasa, he's riding a two-fight winning streak. The first leg happened when Tuivasa pumped out Stefan Struve at October.
Tuivasa most recently surfaced March 20 at UFC on ESPN 21 at which he quickly defeated promotional newcomer Harry Hunsucker by TKO in 49 minutes. Tuivasa's authentic competition Don'Tale Mayes withdrew in the struggle days before the event.
UFC 264 does not have a formal location or venue. UFC president Dana White recently said he is optimistic the event will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas together with enthusiasts in attendance.
The Most Recent UFC 264 lineup currently includes:
Dustin Poirier-Conor McGregor
Gilbert Burns-Stephen Thompson
Jessica Eye-Jennifer Maia
Greg Hardy-Tai Tuivasa
